Welcome to the ninth issue
of Light-Up-Your-Life
Newsletter. We wish you happy holidays and a great
New Year. The aim of this newsletter is to guide you as
you discover the very source of Happiness and Wisdom.
This source is so deep that it is unaffected by the
conditions of your environment, your body and mind.
In this issue we will reveal
the secret of the virgin birth.
If you can find that which was never born you will find
that which will never die.
We will also take a peak
at some of the gospels that were
edited out of the
New Testament as we know it today, such
as the Gospel of Thomas and the Gospel of Philip. These
books are part of the Nag Hammadi Library, a group of
texts found in the last century in Egypt.
See our new e book, "Making
Your Wisdom Come Alive."
for more references to these texts.
In this season of joy, give
gifts to your friends, your loved-ones,
and to yourself. At the same time you will benefit Light
Up

Here are a few lines from the Gospel of Philip.
In parenthesis () are little explanations to clarify
some of these terms.
It is not possible for anyone to see anything of the
things that actually exist, unless he becomes like
them. This is not the way with man in the world:
he sees the sun without being a sun; and he sees
the heaven and the earth and all other things, but
he is not these things. This is quite in keeping with
the truth. But you saw something of that place and you became
those things. You saw the Spirit, you became spirit.
You saw Christ, you became Christ. You saw the
Father, you shall become Father.
(You know Being, Consciousness and Bliss because you are
that. You don't see it as a separate thing.)
So in this place you see everything and do not see
yourself, but in that place you do see yourself and
what you see you shall become.(1)
Here is a quote from the Gospel of Philip:
Some said, "Mary conceived by the Holy Spirit." They are in
error. They do not know what they are saying. When did just
a virgin ever conceive a man?(1)
The disciples around Jesus
were probably a lot more uninhibited
than portrayed today. There was a lot of joking and laughter around
this great saint. This joy came from their ability to see life through
the eye of wisdom. The disciples saw that a lot of the symbols and
stories that Jesus
used where meant to point them towards their
own Self-Nature. They were not an explanation of what happened
physically.
His disciples also saw
a danger in making these stories physical.
If Jesus was born from a virgin birth then Jesus would be
different from you, since I don't suppose any of you were
born from a virgin birth. You could never be the same as
Jesus. How could you consider it good news that you were
eternally separate from God?
So what is the secret
of the virgin birth anyway? How do you,
like Jesus, come from the virgin birth? Ok, here it is: in
your true nature
you were not born at all, and recognizing
this, you will not die.
"But how can I experience
that?" you ask. You know that
just by knowing a theory of the virgin birth, your life will
not change. Notice how everything in the universe is in
motion, isn't it? That it has a birth, goes through changes
and then dies. Even the universe itself was born, goes
through billions of years of changes and then finally comes
to an end.
But the most important
point that most people overlook
is, how do you know
that everything is in motion? Find
out where you stand so that you are aware of these changes.
Are you just a little creature changing with everything else?
Now dig deep into your experience and take a look. If you
were changing as everything else was in motion, how could
you have such a clear view, that everything you see was
in this inexorable motion proceeding from birth to death?
Look deep enough and you
will see that the Awareness of
change, stands free of the changes. It is from stillness that
you see these changes. At first this stillness may seem very
subtle. It has no corners or edges that you can grasp. It is
even Aware of what you call you.
But as you go into this
stillness more, you will find that there
is another way that you can grasp it. That is by letting go
and letting the stillness be itself. Just allow this stillness
to come to the forefront.
You will begin to appreciate this stillness because it is just
who you are. Not as something separate that you think
about or see.
Standing here you will
find that this motion actually occurs
within you. That's right, it is in you that objects as small as
an ant and as large as the universe, will arise, stay for a while
and return to their natural place.
So in your meditation when
you notice the motion of the world
and your body, breath and mind, don't do anything with them.
Rather find the stillness that this motion goes through. This
is the boundless stillness that you did not create. It is stillness
that was always there - it was never born. In that stillness you
and God are one. Here you find your natural state.
No two things came together
to make this state. Not a father
and a mother, a subject and an object, not heaven and earth,
or fire and water. That's why this is the true virgin birth.
This is the wisdom and
joy that I want to give you as a gift
in this holiday season. This is a gift that will never leave
you because it is just who you are. Here is a quote from
the Gospel of Thomas to end this article:
"Whoever finds the explanation of these words will
not taste death."(2)

The Nag Hammadi Library
was discovered in 1945 and was named
after the town in Egypt where it was discovered. The texts were
not in good condition and the translations have many blanks where
they could not decipher what was written.
But these texts show us
one thing - that ancient Christianity was a
much more inclusive religion, and had many more facets than we
now see in the modern day Gospels. Although we are interested in
the Gnostic sections that deal with Self-knowledge, there are also
sections on subtle energy and mysticism.
The best preserved and
easiest to read portion of The Nag Hammadi
Library is the Gospel of Thomas. But I thought I would give you a
sample from another early text so you could see what this early
Christianity was like. So here is a portion from The
Tripartite Tractate, Translated by Horlod W. Attridge and Dieter
Mueller. Don't be fooled by the fancy language. This was
written by someone who wanted to guide you to experience
directly the nature of God.
This is the nature of the unbegotten one, which
does not touch anything else, nor is it joined
(to anything) in the manner of something which
is limited. Rather, he possesses this constitution,
without having a face or a form, things which are
understood through perception, which the
incomprehensible one transcends.(you can not
know God as a separate thing)If he is incomprehensible, then it follows that he is
unknowable, that he is the one who is inconceivable
by any thought, invisible in any thing, ineffable by
any word, untouchable by any hand. He alone is the
one who knows himself as he is, along with his form
and his greatness and his magnitude, and who has
the ability to conceive of himself, to see himself, to
name himself, to comprehend himself, since he alone
is the one who is his own mind, his own eye, his own
mouth, his own form, and the one who conceives of
himself, who sees himself, who speaks of himself,
who comprehends himself, namely, the inconceivable,
ineffable, the incomprehensible, unchanging one.
(everything seen, heard, or conceived is nothing but
God)
He is sustenance;
he is joy;
he is truth;
he is rejoicing;
he is rest.
That which he conceives,
that which he sees,
that about which he speaks,
the thought which he has,
transcends all wisdom,
and is above all intellect,
and is above all glory,
and is above all honor,
and all sweetness,
and all greatness,
and any depth,
and any height. If this one, who is unknowable in his nature, to whom
pertain all the greatnesses which I already mentioned,
if in the abundance of his sweetness he wishes to grant
knowledge so that he might be known, he has the ability
to do so. He has his power, which is his will. Now,
however, it is in silence that he keeps himself, he who
is the great one, who is the cause of bringing the
totalities (you) into their eternal being.(1) The Nag Hammadi Library, In English

Reach into this deep silence
and will find God, not as a separate
thing, but as your very being. On this note, I hope your happy
holidays will never end.
