All spiritual teachings are only

What appears will also

It is the only

The Essential Teachings
A straight posture is
no posture at all.
It sparkles in the sun
it is there before it runs
no matter how high it gets
it is also that low.
It can’t reach out
for when reaching out
it reaches in, all in a
moment that is
completely out of time.
A straight posture
sees no boundaries
of body, mind, and
spirit.
A straight posture
is no posture at all.
Give the perfect gift to your friends, your loved-ones,
and yourself. At the same time you will help keep

Just about everyone has conflicting priorities in
their life. For instance you want to meditate more
so that you can wake up to your own Self-Nature
– but you have to spend more time at work to earn
more money. You would like to spend more time
reading spiritual books but you don’t want to miss
your favorite TV show or movie. You want to
become a social worker so you can help others but
your friends say you should become a lawyer.
Find out what you want out of life
If you find that you are stuck with lots of conflicting
priorities in your life here’s a meditation that can
get your life back on tract. In this meditation you
can discover what you want to get out of your life.
Not what your parents or friends want for you. Not
what the images on TV say you should become.
I know too many people who suffer through their
days at work, doing what they dislike only for their
paycheck. That’s where the expression, “Thank God
it’s Friday”, came from. People suffer through their
weeks only to find relief on the weekends or when
they go on vacation. It is hard to imagine, but people
spend the majority of their lives living in ways that
they don’t want to live and doing things that they
don’t want to do.
First remember the secret of happiness
The first part of this three part meditation is to just
to remember where you can find happiness. The
little secret, that happiness comes from the inside,
where you actually experience it, can save you lots
of suffering. Remember even an expensive car or
house can't give you the happiness that you already
have on the inside. An image of happiness that you
see on TV or in the movies is not nearly as good as
experiencing the real thing.
Second look from the end
So keeping this in mind, here is the second part of
this meditation. Imagine that you are much older.
In fact the doctors have told you that you only have
a few days left to live. The family, who is almost
constantly by your bedside, has gone away to get
some dinner. You are left alone to look back on
your life.
As you look back at your life what would you see?
Would you have lots of regrets that you never did
what you wanted to. That you never meditated the
way that you wanted to, and that you never realized
the universal truth about your own Self-Nature
that you hoped to realize.
That you spent your life practicing engineering,
which seemed like drudgery to you, when you really
wanted to help others, that you didn't give love to
the people who you really wanted to give love to
and that you didn't help the people who you could
have helped.
What would make your life worthwhile
Now turn things around and notice what would
have made your life fascinating. What would have
filled it with joy so that you could have full time
happiness instead of part time happiness? How
could you look back and say, "I lived a worthwhile
life." Even if it takes you several days or several
weeks to find this out, the time that you spend in
this meditation will be the most worthwhile time
that you ever spent.
Thirdly align your life with that
The final part of this meditation is that after you
discover what you really want, come back to the
present and align your life with that. Remember,
as long as you are alive, you are never too old to
change. When you have a choice of what to do
with your time, pick that which will help you to
get what you really want.
Don’t get distracted. Live the life that you really
want to live. Then you will find that you will be on
vacation all of the time. You will be doing exactly
what you want to do, living in the joy that you
want, and the outcome of your life will be just
what you wish.
Live life without regrets
Follow this meditation and you will live your life
without regrets. In the end, you will rest in peace.

Self-Knowledge is a curious form of meditation.
You use questioning and thinking to get beyond
your thinking, to discover the light that lights up
your mind. This is the light of Consciousness.
But I think that you would agree that you don’t
want to end up just intellectualizing over your
Self-Nature when you can have the direct
experience of boundless peace.
Here, because you are Consciousness, you can
be the whole universe and see that you are
the one ever present reality.
Even now you are the Self
So how do you pass beyond just thinking about the
Self, into the direct and illimitable experience of
your nature? Fortunately you are already the Self.
That’s why it is easier to be yourself than to think
about yourself.
Here is an example. I am a man whether I think
I’m a man or not. If I suddenly start thinking that I
am a blue monkey or a giraffe it doesn’t make me a
blue monkey or a giraffe. I don’t have to shut off
my mind or repeat again and again that I am a man
to become a man. In fact, unless someone asks me
if I am a man or not, I hardly think about it at all.
And yet I remain a man just the same.
Because you are Aware you are beyond
your thinking
The same is true of Consciousness. If you find
yourself thinking again and again, “I am
Consciousness,” “I am Consciousness," until it gets
annoying, it proves only one thing, that you are
Aware of your thoughts. This Awareness is
independent of your thinking. It shines equally on
all of your thoughts. In fact it is this Awareness
that gives the sense of reality to your thoughts.
Similarly, if you find yourself
caught in an infinite
regression, as you
look at the seer, at the seer of the
seer, at the seer of the seer of the seer, etc.
as you try to get back to Awareness.
You’re Aware of all of that thinking, aren’t you? So
you can know the Awareness directly, and see how
it is free of all of this thinking. This is also true of
any other pattern of thinking that you can
manufacture.
You know Awareness because you are it
Although it is easy to overlook, you will find that
your Awareness is the most important element of
your experience. You do not, however, see
Awareness as a separate thing. You know it because
you are it.
Your mind can't define you
Indeed you see your mind, but your mind never
sees you. So your mind cannot define you or put
any other label on you like, “I can’t,” or “I’ll never
understand this”. The 'I' in these cases is just
another thought and not you at all. Recognizing
this, you will not ask your mind to do something
that it can’t do anyway -- define who you are.
Your mind is a great tool
So you will use your mind as a great tool for living,
reading, talking, listening, and working. But it is
wonderful when you stop asking your mind to do
what it is incapable of doing anyway -- telling you
who you are. Then you will know that directly by
your own Self-Nature which is Awareness.
Even the mind will rejoice when it no longer has to
define who you are.
