First here's a poem for the New Year.
The sky is gray the ocean's crashing
The wind is swirling as the sand is slashing
And then the rain washes me clean
Clean as a baby before he was born
Before the sands blew in the winds of life
And before the rain could wash them away
The voice from the innate cries out,
"Find that which never left you."
A ray of sun shines thought the clouds
A hope for the New Year that's just around.
Of all the means to Liberation knowledge is the only direct
one as essential as fire to cooking; without it, Liberation
cannot be gained.
As it says on our web site www.light-up-your-life.com the
only way to get to what you already have is through knowledge.
Not being opposed to ignorance, action does not destroy it.
On the other hand, knowledge destroys ignorance as surely
as light does darkness.
Owing to ignorance, the Self now appears to be covered up;
on the removal of ignorance, the pure Self will shine forth
of Itself, like the sun after the dispersal of clouds.

This is the season to make New Year's resolutions. If
you really want to make sense of this world and find
fulfillment, then you have to find yourself. Here, in
your own Self-Nature lies the satisfaction and joy that
people look for in a million different places.
But you will surely ask the question, “If I am already
the Self what do I have to do to gain the Self?” Indeed
the joy of meditating on your own Self-Nature is that
at any moment you can step beyond your limitations
and into the undying freedom that is your birthright.
Meditation is like taking off your blinders. A small
shift in your vision makes a large shift in your
experience. In our case however, the blinders are just
assumptions, not something that is really there. This
is why no matter how long you have felt the weight of
limitations, in an instant you can be free. It is like opening
the shades in your bedroom. In an instant the light replaces
the dark.
This freedom is the gem that lies at the center of everyone.
You sense it as Consciousness and Bliss. It is free from the
limitations of the body and the mind. It is perfect in itself
and by itself. When you experience anything, this is what
you experience.
It is however, so close that people overlook it. Looking
out into the world they don't notice where they see from. If
you can find this place of freedom you are in for a surprise
that can hardly be put into words. The best I can say is you
loose a lot of little assumptions that you had just taken for
granted, and life becomes new and fresh. You also get to
see directly what's at the very core of the universe.
So I hope that this year, in your New Year's resolutions, you
will rededicate yourself to meditation so that you can find
the jewel that lights up the world, and so you can step into
the clear sky of freedom.
Meditate in two ways. First and most important, find the
Consciousness that sees all limitation. Whatever you see
you are not. You do not, however, see this Consciousness as
a separate thing or stand apart from it in any way. You know
it directly because you are it. As you don't need a separate light to
see the sun, you don't need a separate viewer to see Consciousness.
So in your meditation sink into this Consciousness and explore.
You will be amazed at what you find.
Give the perfect gift to your friends, your loved-ones,
and yourself. At the same time you will help keep
Light Up Your Life on the web.

Secondly, lift the weight of assumptions off your back. You
feel this weight because you are meant to be free. Start by
becoming aware of your assumptions. These might include
ideas about who you are and what the world is.
When you see these little ideas that seem to keep you limited,
don't judge yourself. Rather recognize that whatever you see
you are not. In many cases becoming aware of your
assumptions is the only step necessary to free yourself from
them.
These assumptions could be statements that you run through
your mind like, “I can't do math.” or “I have to drink to remain
sane.” or “I have to be careful, the world is out to get me.”
When you see these thoughts that you find yourself living
by, don't try to put anything in their place. Just consider
these thoughts the same as if you were thinking about a
talking tree, or a walking carrot. Leave an open space where
you once held these beliefs and life will become fresh and
full of surprises.
Therefore, in this new year resolve to meditate regularly so
that you can wake up to your own innate Consciousness, rid
yourself of limitations, and take life to its fullest
potential.

New Years is a time of celebration. So let's pull out the bottle
and begin our party. Now I have a very unusual bottle. It has
no walls; it has no inside and outside and it contains the whole
universe. Moreover, when you drink from this bottle you get
drunk to the core.
You get so drunk that you become this bottle. You become
everything and nothing both at the same time. Better then
that you loose track of yourself. All of the little dualistic
thoughts like "Now I am bound because I am like this.
When I am free I will be like that." "I am tall or I am short",
"I am happy or I am sad", "I am a right or I am a wrong." All
these thoughts get thrown out the window as if they never
occurred. You have nothing to measure and nothing to be
measured against. You can't even tell where you begin and
everyone else ends. All you can see is that which connects
everyone and everything in the whole universe.
You get to see the boundless joy that people hope to find by
running this way and that way. And what you see you become.
Not only that, when you drink from this bottle you get to remain
as you always were, always are, and always shall be. Never again
do you have to come down to a state of limitation.
So what are you waiting for. Lets get started and join the party
that's in the core of our being. Have a happy New Year.
Because we know our potential we can really celebrate this New
Year. Now we can easily step beyond our limitations and into
the bright sky of freedom.
